Snowpiercer TV-Show Review 2019 Cast Crew
Creator: Graeme Manson
Stars: Jennifer Connelly, Daveed Diggs, Mickey Sumner
According to actor Steven Ogg, the TNT Snowpiercer is expected to be released sometime next June. Ogg, known for his role as the villain Simon in The Walking Dead, has signed on for a recurring role in Snowpiercer. He joins an already stellar cast, which includes Jennifer Connelly, Daveed Diggs and Alison Wright to bring the television adaptation to life. After months of setbacks, it seems that fans now know when to expect the premiere of the program.
Snowpiercer by TNT is a planned adaptation of the dystopian film of the same name by Bong Joon-ho in 2013. The film is a sci-fi thriller based on the graphic novel by Jacques Lob. The story unfolds in a dark future where an attempt to undo climate change translates into a new glacial era and the end of almost all life on Earth. The remnants of humanity are trapped by living inside a train (the Snowpiercer) that continually surrounds the globe.
The wagons of the train are divided by class, the upper class live luxuriously in the front of the train, while the lower classes are regulated in the back of the Snowpiercer to live in misery. The film follows a group of passengers in line, led by Chris Evans, who decide to rebel and make their way to the engine room in front of the train.
While at the FanX in Salt Lake City with some of his former TWD colleagues, Ogg was asked about his current and future jobs. As reported by ComicBook, when asked about Snowpiercer, Ogg said: "It's a television show, it's for TNT, Netflix all over the world, June this year."
The announcement comes when so much good news is needed for the fans. The production of the program has been repeatedly extended due to a series of outputs. In January it was reported that showrunner Josh Friedman was going for "creative differences". Orphan Black's co-creator, Graeme Manson, was called to take his place. Shortly thereafter, the program lost to director Scott Derrickson when it refused to have anything to do with the "extreme re-engagements" that were made to the original Friedman pilot.
While the concerns expressed by Friedman and Derrickson do not mean fatality to TNT's sci-fi epic, it is likely that they have raised some red flags for those interested in seeing. Manson already has experience in creating a successful science fiction story. But fans will have to wait and see if those skills can be transferred from Orphan Black to Snowpiercer. Thanks to Ogg, the public knows that progress in the program continues, despite discussions about the direction of the program.
