The series will begin production in March at PFI Studios in Belgrade, Serbia with the premiere date TBD. Casting will begin shortly. Devlin's Electric Entertainment International Sales Division is selling the international rights.
The Ark takes place 100 years in the future when planetary colonization missions have begun as a necessity to help ensure the survival of the human race. The first of these missions in a spaceship known as Ark One encounters a cataclysmic event that causes massive destruction and loss of life. With over a year to go before reaching their target planet, a lack of vital supplies, and the loss of leadership, the remaining crew must become the best version of themselves to stay the course and survive.

"The Ark is a perfect fit for Syfy's audience, and we know fans will be drawn to this exciting story from Dean Devlin, one of today's most prominent and respected science fiction writers," said Lisa Katz, president of content with screenplay. NBCU Entertainment and Broadcasting. "With the recent success of Resident Alien and Chucky, the network is home to some of the most creative storytellers working in all of television."
Devlin and Glassner will executive produce alongside Electric Entertainment's Marc Roskin and Rachel Olschan-Wilson. Balkanic Media's Jonathan English will also produce.
Devlin and Glassner previously collaborated on The Outpost, which ran for four seasons on the CW. Both served as executive producers, with Devlin's Electric Entertainment handling international sales.
Both The Outpost and The Ark employ a business model that Devlin has used since his TNT series Leverage whereby his company Electric Entertainment serves as a studio, finding a linear network partner in the US while retaining all other rights and sells the programs internationally.
“I am very excited to have the opportunity to partner with Syfy again and I cannot think of a better collaborator than Jonathan Glassner to bring this series to life,” said Devlin.
