It's not every day you get to see the long arm of the law join forces with criminals seeking justice. Well, that unique dynamic will be the focus of the story in the upcoming Indonesian action comedy film The Big 4. With the film's December 15 release date drawing ever closer, Netflix has released the trailer for the film and promises to be an action-packed journey to bring justice to a murderous villain.

The trailer features a team of four assassins, each with unique job roles and responsibilities. There's the bait, the badass, the sharpshooter, and of course, the leader. Together they seem like an all-conquering team, getting the job done and making a big scene doing it. Holding it all together is the Mentor. Shortly after the introductions, the trailer takes a grim turn with the murder of a police officer's father. Dina is heartbroken, but when she regains consciousness, she sets off in search of people who can bring the murderer of her father to justice. What she discovers changes everything for her.

Her first stop: the Villa Paranais and her less than helpful assistant. During her investigation, Dina learns that her father was The Mentor, who led the team of titular assassins in the film. Her death was "work related" and the same enemies of hers are following her. After laying down their weapons and retiring, the Big 4 are soon back in action to help Dina in her quest for justice. The target of her combined wrath is an individual known as the Southeast Asian Scorpion. Both teams face off and what ensues is sure to be carnage, but it's important to remember that sometimes it takes a criminal to catch a criminal.

A strict detective investigates the death of her father and follows a lead to a remote tropical island, only to discover her true identity as the leader of a gang of assassins. Now hunted by her father's enemies, she must now join forces with the thieves her father had trained: four retired assassins, down on their luck, eager to get back in the game.

Timo Tjahjanto directs from a script he wrote with Johanna Wattimena, with a cast headlined by Abimana Aryasatya, Putri Marino, Arie Kriting, Lutesha, Marthino Lio, Kristo Immanuel, Michelle Tahalea, Budi Ros and Donny Damara.

Along with the action choreography, gun and knife fights, and battle cries of The Big 4, there's an overlapping comedic dimension that seems to make the film a brilliant watch. The movie was shot in Indonesia and will be only the second original Indonesian movie released by the streaming giant this year.

The Big 4 is directed by Timo Tjahjanto, who is also writing the script alongside Johanna Wattimena. The cast of the film includes Abimana Aryasatya, Putri Marino, Arie Kriting, Kristo Immanuel, Marthino Lio, Michelle Tahalea, Budi Ros, Donny Damara, and Lutesha.
