Director Christopher McQuarrie is returning to direct the film after the huge success of 2018's "Mission: Impossible-Rogue Nation." McQuarrie shared the link to the official trailer a day after it was leaked online. "We all share the same destiny," the director tagged the trailer on his Twitter account. The trailer features various scenes of Cruise running, fighting, being chased by bad guys while driving a yellow car or fighting them on top of a moving train, and the now-iconic motorcycle chase sequences.


Cruise, 59, who recently received a career honors at the Cannes Film Festival and will be on screens for another high-stakes franchise, "Top Gun: Maverick," due out later this week, returns as Ethan Hunt, IMF agent and operational leader, a role he has already played in six films.


"Dead Reckoning Part One" is the seventh film in the series and brings back the character of Eugene Kittridge (Henry Czenry), the head of the IMF in the 1996 film.


The trailer, in fact, begins with Kittridge's dialogue: "Your days of fighting for the so-called greater goods are over. This is our chance to control the truth. The concepts of right and wrong for everyone in the centuries to come. You are fighting against an ideal that doesn't exist. It never existed. You have to choose a side." The film also marks the return of characters from the previous films as actors Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby reunite with Cruise in the new mission.
