Marvel released the first trailer for "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania" today, giving fans a look at Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror and, for some reason, Bill Murray. The superhero movie will be released in theaters on February 17, 2023.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania director Peyton Reed tweeted today that true believers in Marvel should "fasten their seat belts" and now we know why. Marvel just released Reed's movie trailer and it looks like the third movie putting the cinematic microscope on Paul Rudd's Scott Lang is going to be big news.
In addition to Rudd, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania stars Evangeline Lilly as Hope, Kathryn Newton as Cassie, and Jonathan Majors as Kang, the MCU's new big bad who was introduced last year in Loki.
Director: Peyton Reed
Writers: Jack Kirby, Jeff Loveness
Stars: Jonathan Majors, Evangeline Lilly, Michelle Pfeiffer
Disney told TechCrunch that the film would likely stream on Disney+, but there is no confirmed release date yet. The company has previously stated that movies will have a 45-day theatrical window before they hit the streaming service. As an exception, Disney waited two months to release “Thor: Love and Thunder” since September 8 is Disney+ Day. We estimate that "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania" will be released on the service around April 2023.
"Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania" kicks off Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will explore Ant-Man/Scott Lang (Rudd), Wasp (Evangeline Lilly), Lang's now eldest daughter Cassie (Kathryn Newton ), along with the original Wasp, Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) being sucked into the Quantum Realm.
The trailer also features Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror, the time-traveling supervillain who appeared in the Disney+ series "Loki" as an alternate version called "He Who Remains."
Towards the end of the trailer, viewers will see actor Bill Murray, a peculiar choice for him to be included in the trailer at this point, as multiple allegations of misconduct have been leveled against him. Murray's role in the film is unknown.
