“East New York,” the pilot drama currently in the works at CBS, has added four new cast members. Ruben Santiago Hudson, Richard Kind ("Argo," "A Serious Man"), Lavel Schley and Olivia Luccardi have joined the pilot along with previously announced series lead Amanda Warren.
In the pilot, Regina Haywood (Warren) is the newly promoted Deputy Inspector of East New York, an impoverished, working-class neighborhood on the eastern edge of Brooklyn. She leads a diverse group of officers and detectives, some of whom are reluctant to deploy their creative methods of serving and protecting amid social upheaval and the early seeds of gentrification.
Hudson has been cast as Marvin Sandeford. Marvin could have become a chief or a detective, but he never wanted to be anything other than a street cop. He is very opinionated and given to snap judgments and intractable, but not without compassion. No one knows as much about East New York as he does.
Hudson is represented by Gersh and Sharp & Associates PR. Kind will play Captain Stan Yenko. Stan is a captain who hides his loneliness and insecurity behind a sociable demeanor and a search for camaraderie with everyone around him. Kind is represented by Innovative and Foster Entertainment.
Schley has been cast as Andre Bentley, an upper-middle-class patrol officer trainee in Westchester. He was never supposed to become a cop, which was half the reason he became one. Schley is represented by Innovative and Power Entertainment Group.
Luccardi will play Brandy Quinlan, a patrol officer who had a working-class upbringing until she ran away from an abusive home and lived on the streets. She is an entrepreneur and is driven to prove herself. Luccardi is represented by ICM, One Entertainment and Myman Greenspan Fox.
William Finkelstein and Mike Flynn are the writers and executive producers of "East New York." Mike Robin of Skyemac Productions and Christine Holder and Mark Holder are also executive producers. Skyemac's Andrew Maher is co-executive producer. Warner Bros. Television is the studio.
