Director Rob Zombie today unveiled the first footage of his cinematic spin on 1960s TV classic The Munsters with an opening credits montage that mirrors the TV show, but with his 2022 cast in the roles of Herman, Lily and Grandpa Munster. However, appearances by "ugly duckling" Marilyn and werewolf Eddie are missing.
After the black and white intro ends, the sneak peek cuts to a color shot of the three characters sitting on the couch, no doubt an homage to the fact that the show was broadcast in black and white, but the movies associated with the same cast were live. color.
Stars: Cassandra Peterson, Dee Wallace, Jeff Daniel Phillips
Chronicling the decidedly different lives of a family of friendly monsters from Mockingbird Heights, The Munsters originally aired between 1964 and 1966 on CBS, in the same time period that the classic series The Addams Family aired on ABC. The sitcom was not a huge success, but became a favorite in syndication for the next few decades, and a syndicated version followed from 1988-91. Decades later, NBC was developing a reboot series from Jill Kargman and Seth Meyers.
