Pretty Little Liars was a cultural reboot, and if the new trailer for Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin is anything to go by, the spinoff could be following in its footsteps. The new teaser uses the iconic "Two Can Keep a Secret" theme song from the original, complete with Jackbox Trivia Murder Party sound effects and a glimpse of A, ready to wreak havoc on a new generation of liars.

Based on the young adult novels written by Sara Shepard, the mystery-thriller series wowed audiences from 2010 to 2017 with its dark, twisted plot and soapy drama, and still ranks as the number one series. 1 series on Freeform, according to Deadline. Two spin-offs have aired since the original series finale: 2013's supernatural Ravenswood and 2019's sequel series The Perfectionists, but both shows ran for just one season. Now a new story is entering the PLL Universe with Original Sin.


First announced in the fall of 2020, Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin is the next chapter in the PLL legacy that fans have been waiting for. Original Sin offers a new story, a new setting and new characters, as well as a change in tone; the drama has been described as "dark" and "horror-tinged". One of the most exciting parts of a new PLL story is the promise of a new quintet. Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin will focus on a new set of five Little Liars: Imogen, Tabby, Noa, Faran, and Minnie, played by Bailee Madison, Chandler Kinney, Maia Reficco, Zaria, Malia Pyles, respectively. According to their character descriptions, all the Liars are final girls and each of them hides her own secret. Bailee Madison will play Imogen, a teenage mother described as a "true survivor." As the girls fight for their lives.

The Pretty Little Liars original series aired on cable channel Freeform, but Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin will move to streaming and will be available to watch on HBO Max, home to other teen dramas like Gossip Girl, Generation and Euphoria.
