A new feature film inspired by the pandemic and starring Brian Austin Green is being made in Sacramento. The McKinley Park basketball court is the setting for one of the scenes in the feature film, called "Pacerville."
"Sacramento is amazing. The people are very friendly. It's a beautiful city," Green said. After years of playing a student on television on the popular '90s show "Beverly Hills, 90210," Green says he "isn't the baby anymore." He said that he is "surreal" that he is now playing a teacher struggling during the pandemic.
"I'm the old man with the beard," he said. "Pacerville" is about a teacher dealing with students in his Zoom class who aren't paying attention.Filmmaker and Sacramento native Nick Leisure is directing the film.
He said he came up with the idea during the pandemic as something he could shoot with a small cast. Green said that after trying to help his three children, ages 4, 6 and 8, with distance learning last year, he has a new understanding and respect for the importance of teachers.
"They're not just taking care of our kids during the day and showing them things to do and giving them chores," he said. "It's a way to keep a child's attention for months out of the year. I think we should give them more."
The movie will shoot over the next three weeks in Sacramento. It is scheduled to hit theaters in the fall of 2021.
