Whiskey Cavalier TV-Show Review 2019 Cast Crew
Stars: Lauren Cohan, Scott Foley, David Fynn
Whiskey Cavalier is entering the pilot race with a big advantage: its cast. And these days, when most of the biggest names are more tempted to work for a transmission platform like Netflix or Amazon instead of a good broadcast network, it's already a victory! And not a small one. Hottie and her friend Scott Foley became a kind of family name thanks to their roles in Gray's Anatomy and then Scandal, and it's worth trying as a leader. The whole project was built around him, by the way, he was attached to the star from the beginning.
Lauren Cohan was one of the most sought after actresses of this pilot season, being one of the favorites of the fans of the most watched television show in the market (probably recognized The Walking Dead) and of the dozen projects she received, that is the What did he choose. . It is quite revealing. Together, they make an attractive couple. Hopefully they have chemistry. The cast also includes Tyler James Williams. Even though his appearance in The Walking Dead was shorter than Cohan's, he is still someone that people can identify and is here because of his comedic abilities. Last but not least: Ana Ortiz, who is a sweet addition; the kind of actress you're always happy to have on the screen, even in a small part. And it's not a small part is here. Now, the question is: is the script up to the cast?
I'd like to give you a simple answer, but I'm sorry, it will be a little more complicated than that. The point is that Whiskey Cavalier is far from inventing or even reinventing the wheel. It could have been done 5, 10, 15 and even 30 years ago. But it will probably look better today. You will not see anything there that you have already seen, probably more on the big screen than on television. There are more movies that come to mind when you think of light action. But there is also a dynamic that TV knows by heart and its viewers also: "will they do it?"
The situation is created when two sexy people who hate each other at first sight are asked to work together against their will and they fall in love slowly I do not see how Whiskey Cavalier could escape this troop and I do not even think it's something they want, they know it's going to happen sooner or later, we know that's part of the fun. a love triangle to spice things up a bit ... Yes, another troop in which two women fight for the same man ... I do not want to seem too cynical: the ratings have shown again and again that this is what the public wants, as long as it is well done, and I have the feeling that this will be.
The most obvious strength of the pilot is that he never takes himself too seriously. The writer knows he is not doing The Bourne Identity. He is not trying to do it. He does his own little thing that could become big if the rays fall. The script is as efficient as a script can be in a transmission network. The action scenes are promising, always going fast, constantly moving from one place to another. It starts in Paris, goes to Moscow and New York, and ends in Reims (a small town in France). It is constantly fun, playful, exciting. Maybe a little tiring too. All the characters have a great sense of humor but not the same type.
I mean, it starts with Will Chase (Foley) singing Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart" in his pajamas. Set the tone. Will and Francesca make fun of each other all the time; and the character of Tyler James Williams, Edgar Standish, who is one of the bad guys when we know him, or so we think, is simply funny as the nervous genius who has enough super secret information to buy, imprison or kill him. Dozen governments. While we are here for fun and we have a lot, the main plot is still interesting all the time, with enough twists and turns, not too predictable or complicated, to keep us happy.
You probably have it now, Whiskey Cavalier is a procedural action comedy and the main objective of the pilot is to bring together the inter-institutional team. Will and Francesca will receive permanent help from Edgar, Susan Sampson, from Ana Ortiz, who is the principal scientist of the behavior of the FBI and also Will's best friend; and Rutger, the CIA mayor and friend of Francesca. They work from an apartment since their missions are top secret, even for others in the FBI and the CIA. Wait a bit of comedy work there. Their missions can send them to any part of the planet. I did not tell you much about our two heroes, but all there is to know is the logline.
