The Mandalorian TV-Show Review 2019 Cast Crew
"The Mandalorian is established after the fall of the Empire and before the appearance of the First Order," says the Star Wars website, placing these ten episodes between Return Of The Jedi and The Force Awakens in terms of the line of movie time. This period of the Star Wars saga has also hosted books such as Bloodline and Aftermath, the new animated series Star Wars: Resistance and the story segment of the game Star Wars: Battlefront II.
It is a fascinating section of general galactic history, with the abrupt end of Emperor Palpatine's reign leaving a power vacuum that several factions want to connect. Mon Mothma and Princess Leia are among the heroes of the Rebel Alliance who try to offer a democratic government to the galaxy through a regime called New Republic, but the crime lords on several planets have their own ideas.
That official announcement tells us that the Mandalorian "will follow the tribulations of a lone gunman on the edge of the galaxy, far from the authority of the New Republic." That's the type of armor, of course, who remains a man full of mystery.
At this moment we know absolutely nothing of what this solitary gunman does in those external reaches. In what direction does your moral compass point? What enemies will you face in these ten episodes? Will the helmet fall off or will it be more of a Dredd situation? In this stage, we are all questions and not answers.
"After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe." So says another tempting phrase in the recent announcement about The Mandalorian. That statement was presented along with the image of the armor and terms such as "solitary gunman", all of which combine to paint a certain type of image.
This is all we have to do at this moment, in addition to a brief interview with Nerdist at the Solo premiere where Favreau promised "all the new characters" and "different planets" for his television project. Certainly, Favreau is forging a new path here instead of picking up any character or plot from other movies or series.
If we had to guess, what we decided we would do, we would predict a rough tone to match the dusty aesthetic of the armor image. And with broadcast services that bypass the rules and regulations of traditional television channels, the only thing that prevents The Mandalorian from getting into darker issues and more extreme violence than Star Wars films will be the ones who make the decisions behind the scene.
It remains to be seen if Kathleen Kennedy and Disney will allow Favreau to stay very dark here, but it is easy to imagine an armored warrior on a lawless planet getting into really brutal scratches and morally dark stories, with death and double crossing lurking every corner . Again, however, only time will tell exactly how this develops.
That title, The Mandalorian, is loaded with meaning for Star Wars fans. Mandalore is a planet in the territories of the outer edge of the galaxy, and is home to the expert soldiers of the Mandalorian race. Some of which are very iconic characters.
The first Mandalorian who saw the audience was Boba Fett, who made his debut in the highly defamed Star Wars Holiday Special before appearing in The Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi. Later, he was inserted into the Special Edition of A New Hope for a brief scene.
Whichever edition you see, the original story of the Boba trilogy ends with the iconic bounty hunter who falls unceremoniously into the Sarlacc pit. Decades later, George Lucas would revisit the character in Attack Of The Clones, revealing in the second prequel movie that Boba was an unaltered clone of a bounty hunter named Jango Fett.
The original Clone Army, which executed Order 66 and eliminated tons of Jedi, was also clones of Temura Morrison's Jango. However, these were modified and improved, so it is probably not entirely accurate to call them Mandalorians. The only pure copy of Jango was Boba, who ended up cradling his father's decapitated head towards the end of Episode II.
It is possible that the stories of Boba and Jango Fett have not lived up to their disguises, but still these two characters set the framework for what it means to be a Mandalorian: you must have an elegant armor, a funky spaceship, a jetpack and A lot of gadgets basically.
